In reply to Illegal cannabis cultivation continues to flourish :
This is very old business and we have seen little change in this heavy money business although many times featured on T.V and media.
POLICE and POLITICIANS are always backing it.
In reply to Aid for LEH:
Subhash Chander, a former PGI employee, has donated Rs 16,200, an amount equivalent to his one-month pension, to the Prime Minister National Relief Fund for victims of cloudburst in Leh.
Earlier, he had donated Rs 5,100 to help victims of Kosi river floods in Bihar two years ago. He has also donated Rs 6,800 to patients suffering from cancer.
There are more than 150 kids who are on road. Flash floods in LEH had vanished families and according to a newspaper- more than 150 children are forced to live orphans.
Although international community is doing it's best for aid, India is also helping out people to get back to life before winter settles.
In reply to Manali- Leh route:
Route was opened by BRO but heavy rains in himalayas and snowfall on higher reaches had forced this vital link to LEH to be closed again.
All passes have seen heavy snowfall.
In reply to Sunderban / Jaladapara / Buxa etc:

In reply to Any Help and Advice?:
What exactly you want to do ?
Do you want to climb in Himalayas ? If yes, then you can start from trekking peaks...they all need technical know-how and why they r called trekking peaks because they r OPEN PEAKS and one can climb without royalty and paper work.
In reply to Chandertal and surroundings:
You can see in map that there is a trail to Chandertal over Hamta pass- I would like to mention here that this is having exposed sextion which should not be done by first timers or by people who do no thave some basic equipment with them.
Last time we were here- we have to use rope and belay...!
In reply to Best time for Char Dham Yatra:
There are two season for this region yatras. One is post monsoon and it starts in May and continue upto monsoon. Then second season starts from August to October.
I think post monsoon is better as heat is less and you can find some green cover in mountains !
In reply to Best time for Char Dham Yatra:
I think this is the right time to travel

In reply to Skiing in Solang Valley:
I would like to go for a Moderate trek somewhere in the Himachal or Nepal during December 2010 or October 2010
Online Reservation Software can make the difference in travel agency growth or decline. Travel companies work on small margins and efficient online reservation software is the lifeblood of travel companies. While tourists have visions of up, up and away, travel agencies have their eyes on the bottom line and how online reservation software can increase profits.
In reply to Russian kid raped in Goa- Threat of travel advisory:
This is not first time and I am sure will not be last either when Goa seen such bad name among tourism. THere is strong lobby which handles nudity , sex and drugs in Goa and this is decades old setup.
Many rapes and other crimes goes unreported because people involved had their own cozy reasons for not to report to police- but those who dare to come out- even they are discouraged because then onus is on police to solve the case.
I dot see why this could not be an example for all who are living in mountains. Not only terror struck North East but mountain and hilly states like Maharashtra and Karnataka can also learn something from it.
In reply to Weather updates- March 2010:
This is right that plains of North India are burning and this summer is going to be very very HOT for many people as shortage of electricity will hit people hard.
In reply to Hi Evryone:
There is feeling in mountains that more snow will come in Jammu-Kashmir and upper regions of Himalayas.
In reply to Restricting mountaineering beyond the snowline:
Unless India is not on war with pakistan or china. ON one hand indians are projecting trekking to Siachen and on other hand we see voice for stopping trekking and climbing in himalayas ?
I think we should not worry much- such voices do raise in india and no one takes them seriously.
This region can be combined with ROOPKUND + OUTER NANDA DEVI SANCTUARY but this for those who afford such a long trekking strech in mountains but worth spending time and money.
